2010-03-04 | Number 112 is sought to be made friendly to deaf people
Vilnius Deaf People Rehabilitation Centre started the project “Potential of adaptation of 112 emergency number to the needs of Deaf People: Lithuanian and Norwegian („Deaf Access 112“). Main goal of the project – to adapt single emergency call number 112 services to Deaf People Community and to capacitate those people to use number 112 to as accessible extent as it is available to hearing people.
 

2010-02-08 | European 112 Day celebrated all over Europe

11th February 2010 marks the second edition of the European 112 Day. The emergency number 112 is common to all 27 countries of the European Union and is used to contact emergency services free of charge. While the surveys have shown that more than 9 out of 10 Europeans are positive towards the creation and existence of this life saving number, still 3 out of 4 are unaware of these 3 digits that could save their lives when in need of reaching the police, ambulance or fire services. Therefore, events to promote the knowledge and good use of 112 are organised today in several European cities from Portugal to Finland and from Belgium to Bulgaria.


 

2010-02-02 | Emergency Response Centre informs
As of February 1st, 2010 Emergency Response Centre took over 112 emergency call handling from Molėtai police station in the territory of Molėtai District Municipality. This step is done in order to implement the programme of the Development of the infrastructure of Single Emergency Call Number 112. This programme aims to ensure reliable, prompt and accurate emergency call handling countrywide. To this end Divisions of Emergency Response Centre taker over emergency call handling from local police stations. To date Emergency Response Centre serves 27 municipalities that total 67 percent of the population.

 

2010-01-06 | EMERGENCY RESPONSE CENTRE TAKE OVER NUMBER 112 EMERGENCY CALLS HANDLING IN THE AREA OF KELME MUNICIPALITY

Emergency response centre informs, that from the 4th of January 2010  from territorial police headquarters take over number 112 emergency calls handling in the area of Kelme municipality.


 

2009-12-31 | EMERGENCY RESPONSE CENTRE TAKE OVER NUMBER 112 EMERGENCY CALLS HANDLING IN THE AREA OF KALVARIJA MUNICIPALITY

Emergency response centre informs, that from the 31st of December 2009  from territorial police headquarters take over number 112 emergency calls handling in the area of Kalvarija municipality.


 

2009-12-21 | New EU Telecoms Rules enter into force

New EU telecoms rules officially became EU law on Saturday following their publication in Friday's Official Journal of the European Union. The new rules composed of the Better Regulation Directive and the Citizens’ Rights Directive will need to be transposed into national laws of the 27 EU Member States by June 2011. The new Regulation establishing the new European Telecoms Authority called "Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC)" is directly applicable and will enter into force in 20 days. BEREC will provide a force for consistent regulation across Europe strengthening the single telecoms market. This final step in the EU legislative process follows the final agreement between the European Parliament and Council in November ( IP/09/1812 ) .


 

2009-12-16 | Emergency Response Centre answered 6 million 112 emergency calls

On December 9th, 2009 the Emergency Response Centre (ERC) answered 6 millionth call to pan-European emergency number 112. In this case woman called to report the intrusion of two masked males into neighbour’s apartments and noise in there. ERC operator that answered the call evaluated the situation and immediately incorporated police dispatcher into tripartite conference call. Police dispatcher promptly dispatched police patrols to the scene of emergency. Presuming risk to life or health of those residing in the apartments ERC operator simultaneously dispatched ambulance to the location. Police officers arrived in several minutes and arrested six suspect assailants, while ambulance rendered first aid to the owner of the apartments.


 

2009-12-02 | EMERGENCY RESPONSE CENTRE TAKE OVER NUMBER 112 EMERGENCY CALLS HANDLING IN THE AREA OF RETAVAS AND KAZLU RUDA MUNICIPALITIES

Emergency response centre informs, that from territorial police headquarters take over number 112 emergency calls handling:

from 30st of November 2009 – in the area of Retavas municipality.

from the 1st of December 2009  – in the area of Kazlu Ruda municipality.


 

2009-11-17 | Emergency Response Centre informs

From 16st of November 2009 Klaipedos department of the Emergency Response take over numbers 01, 101, 011 emergency call handling in the area of Retavas, Plunge and Kretinga municipalities.


 

2009-09-01 | Emergency Response Centre announces

Emergency Response Centre announces that as from 1st of September 2009 it will take over number 112 emergency call handling in the area of Pagėgiai municipality from Tauragė County Police Headquarter. As from 15th of September 2009 it will take over number 112 emergency call handling in the area of Zarasai municipality from Utena County Police Headquarter.
